After collecting close to 300 petitioning signatures, John George, 42, candidate for Iowa State Senate, gains ballot to general election, Nov. 8. "Our support over the past few weeks has grown exponentially," said George. "We are transcending political parties as we have garnered support from people in both major parties, independents, and even people who have been disenfranchised from the voting process all together."

He said the people are sick and tired of being ignored, and they are sick and tired of the government meddling in their lives. "Our message of individual liberty is resonating loudly in our district. People really just want to just be left alone from coercive interference in their everyday lives by a government that steals our wealth through taxation and has grown well beyond its constitutionally authorized size and scope." Iowa State Senate Distr. 38 represents Benton, Iowa and Poweshiek Counties.

"We believe that as long as no one harms the life, liberty or property of anyone else, they should be free to do as they wish and not be taxed or regulated through aggression perpetuated by the state or be arrested and fined for victimless crimes that harm no parties and are merely tactics for revenue generation by the state" said George, who is due to receive his Bachelor Degree in Political Science in October from Columbia. "Our goals in this campaign is to restore the ideas of individual liberty and economic freedom back to the people where it rightfully belongs."

It's about time someone stands up for the people, said the Marengo, IA resident. "I'm an average Iowan like most of the voters who are just as sick of the usurpation of our individual rights as they are." Our rights have been sold out too corporate and banking elites, and the multi-term politicians and corporations are prospering from it he added. "I am not a politician. I will not be bought and sold like all the other representatives in Des Moines" He said the distance between his philosophy and the establishment philosophy are miles apart, because the establishment has lost touch with those who matter, the people of the great state of Iowa who elected them.

"Our plans from now until election day is to keep spreading our message that taxation is theft, liberty is awesome, and that our voices will be heard" said George, who is a Night Audit Manager at Ramada Inn and Wasserbahn Waterpark in Williamsburg and has worked for both the Ron Paul and Rand Paul Presidential campaigns as well as being the state co-chair for Our American Initiative, which is a 501(4)(c) social welfare advocacy group focused on fighting unjust legislative measures in all 50 states. "The people have really connected with the idea of restoring limited government because they know as liberty increases, government intrusion and power decreases, and that power ultimately ends up in a bottom up system where the people and communities have the power, as it was meant to be. We will keep fighting for and spreading this message and its ideals all through the grassroots."

The campaign will continue meeting the people throughout the district until Election Day, he said. "All we can do is keep spreading our message to everyone in the district to restore the individual liberty and economic freedom everyone deserves once and for all. Our legislators have stopped listening to the people who put them in office because the voice of the people they represent is being drowned out by the sounds of the corporate and special interest monies that are being exchanged. These people claim to be our leaders, but they forget they are merely representatives, the true leaders are the people and I will never stray from that idea.”
