Government : Notice of Public Hearing and Acceptance of Sealed Bids

The Benton County Board of Supervisors will be accepting sealed bids on Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at 9:15 a.m. for the sale of county-owned property located on East Iowa Street, Luzerne, Iowa, and described as

Luzerne Lot 1 Block 3

The property is a vacant lot located southeast of the intersection of Main Street and E. Iowa Street in Luzerne, (east of the elevator).

Bids must be filed in the office of the Benton County Auditor no later than 9:00 a.m. on August 30, 2016.

· All bids must be accompanied by cash, check, or money order in an amount equal to 10% of the bid price as earnest money.

· The successful bidder, if any, will forfeit all earnest money in the event they fail to complete the purchase of the property.

· Cash for the remaining balance will be due upon delivery of a Quit Claim Deed

· Earnest money will be returned to unsuccessful bidders at the time of the bid opening.

A public hearing on said proposed sale of real estate is hereby fixed for the 30th day of August, 2016, at 9:30 A.M. in the Boardroom, Second Floor, Benton County Courthouse, Vinton, Iowa, for the purpose of selling said real estate. Said hearing shall be immediately following the opening and review of said bids.

Benton County reserves the right to accept or reject any or all bids. Therefore, though you may be the highest bidder, or indeed the only bidder, if the Board does not accept your bid, the sale does not become final. All bids are subject to approval by the Benton County Board of Supervisors at said public hearing.
