June 6, 2017 The Benton County Board of Supervisors met in regular adjourned session with Supervisors Wiley, Primmer, andBierschenk present. The meeting was called to order at 9:00 a.m. Unless otherwise noted, all actions were approved unanimously. Bierschenk moved/ Primmer seconded: Approve the minutes of May30, 2017. Motion carried. Primmer moved/Bierschenk seconded: To approve salary increase for Brett Schilling, assistant attorney to 85% of theAttorney's salary effective June 2, 2017. Motion carried. Discussion to continue with the scheduled contract for a new Pictometry aerial flight scheduled for spring of 2018. BentonCounty was already locked in the contract but needed to get the flight officially scheduled. Additional Fireworks discussion continued from the past two weeks. Benton County is unique with the commercial fireworks training and testing that is done North of Vinton by trained experts. Supervisors would like to work with the experts onhandling this fairly. Without detailed administrative rules from the state, the county is going to let the state guidelines handle the selling of consumer fireworks outside of corporate limits. Suggestions for updating the resolution regarding commercial fireworksand increasing liability insurance requirements and time limits on aerial salutes. On the firework application they would also like tosee a time frame designated. Carol Zander, Director of Benton County Social Services reported to the Board about a recent meeting she attended. Theregion wants MHDS fund balance reductions by FY 2022. The board thanked her for this information and asked to be kept in theloop for continuous updates on the matter. The Board will need to appoint members to a county facility security committee at the next meeting, and this will allowtime to discuss with department heads ahead of time for those interested. Discussion about the 24 hour notice requirement to post Supervisor's agenda's when holidays fall on Mondays when thecourthouse is closed. Bierschenk moved/Primmer seconded: To approve an outdoor mail receptacle for the courthouse and giving theTreasurer authority to choose the color and location. Motion carried. Primmer moved/Bierschenk seconded: To approve Benton County Fair Board's FY 2017 Financials and requestingthat receipts be provided in the future. Motion carried. The supervisors met with county maintenance supervisor Rick Bramow for a brief tour of the various areas of thecourthouse his department maintains. Primmer moved/Bierschenk seconded: To adjourn.
