The Benton County Board of Supervisors met in regular adjourned session with Supervisors Primmer, Wiley and Bierschenk present. The meeting was called to order at 9:00 a.m. Unless otherwise noted, all actions were approved unanimously.
Wiley moved/Bierschenk seconded: To approve the minutes of January 2, 2018. Motion carried.
Wiley moved/Bierschenk seconded: To appoint Tyneal Herger to the Board of Adjustment. Motion carried.
Wiley moved/Bierschenk seconded: Approve payment of checks numbered 225866 through 226001, payroll checks numbered 139873 through 139885, and ACH deposits numbered 33158 through 33287 vendor checks numbered 226002 through 226009. Motion carried.
Wiley moved/Bierschenk seconded: To appoint Nancy Jensen, Denise Schwab, Bryce Brecht, Tracy Seeman and Jennifer Zahradnik to the Solid Waste Commission. Motion carried.
Discussion on the upcoming open office space at Governor Sherman Building due to the terminated lease agreement between Benton County and Iowa Department of Administrative Services for Targeted Case Management. The termination is effective February 28, 2018. No action was taken.
Abby Michael and Gwen Bramlett-Hacker, with the Riverview Center, presented a budget request of $5,000 to the Board. They provided an overview of what they can do to ensure survivors of sexual assault in Benton County are aware of the confidential advocacy and therapy services available free of cost. They have been active for 25 years in the State of Iowa.
Wiley moved/Bierschenk seconded: To approve and accept the 2017 Weed Commissioner's Report. Motion carried.
Supervisor Wiley reported that Shive-Hattery will be touring the old DHS Building on Wednesday January 10, 2018 at 1:00. They were very responsive to the inquiry. Biershenk gave his update from the results of his tour with Novak Design Group.
Discussion about how many departments and the number of employees that would possibly occupy the redesigned office space. Open areas, break rooms & restrooms is also important for them to provide their estimates accordingly.
Wiley moved/Bierschenk seconded: To appoint Rick Primmer to the DECAT committee. Motion carried.
Wiley moved/Bierschenk seconded: To appoint Mitch McDonough to ECICOG Region 10 Transportation Committee. Motion carried.
Bierschenk moved/Wiley seconded: To appoint Michael Silhanek to the Veteran's Commission. Motion carried.
Wileymoved/Bierschenk seconded: To approve General Assistance Quarterly Report ending December 31, 2017. Motion carried.
Wiley moved/Bierschenk Seconded: To approve Auditor's Quarterly Report ending December 31, 2017. Motion carried.
Bierschenk moved/Wiley Seconded: To approve Sheriff's Quarterly Report ending December 31, 2017. Motion carried.
Bierschenk moved/Wiley seconded: To adjourn. Motion carried.
