Todd Wiley: Supervisor will not seek re-election this year. There will be a new member of the Benton County Board of Supervisors when the Board convenes in January. Todd Wiley has chosen not to seek re-election to the District 1 position. He was elected first in a special election to fill a vacancy in 2013, and then elected to a four-year term in 2014. Wiley has told Vinton Today that he may decide to run for the position again sometime in the future. He had served nearly a decade on the VS School Board before running for Supervisor. The three candidates who have filed papers to be on the June 5 primary ballot are Democrats Ed Sass and Scott Hepker, and Republican Tracy Seeman. Benton County Treasurer Kelly Geater and Benton County Attorney David Thompson are running unopposed in their primaries, and no other candidates have filed papers for those offices. Republican Lexa Speidel is seeking re-election as County Recorder. Democrat Cliff Potts is running for that position in the Democratic primary race. Iowa House District 75 Representative Dawn Pettengill had previously announced she would not seek re-election. Those who have filed papers for that race include Democrats Paula Denison, Doras Guilford and Dennis Mathahs, Republican Thomas Gerhold and Libertarian John George. In statewide races, several Democrats are running against Gov. Kim Reynolds and many candidates in both parties are running to replace Ag Secretary Bill Northey, who has been appointed to a position in the USDA. And four Democrats are on the primary ballot for the Iowa House of Representatives seat, along with incumbent Republican Rod Blum. The entire list of candidates includes the following:
