August 28, 2018 The Benton County Board of Supervisors met in regular adjourned session with Supervisors Primmer, Wiley and Bierschenk present. The meeting was called to order at 9:00 a.m. Unless otherwise noted, all actions were approved unanimously. Wiley moved/Bierschenk seconded: To approve the minutes from August 21, 2018 and August 23, 2018. Motion carried. Bierschenk moved/Wiley seconded: To set a land use hearing date of Tuesday September 25, 2018 at 9:15 a.m. for Jeffrey and Rebecca Junge. Motion carried. Wiley moved/Bierschenk seconded: To approve farm exemption application for Ann Reinberg for land in part of the S½ of NE ¼ 5-83-12. Motion carried. Bierschenk moved/Wiley seconded: To approve farm exemption application for Jennifer Klein in part of the SE¼ of 3-82-10. Motion carried. Wiley moved/Bierschenk seconded: To approve Resolution #18-46, Employment status change in Sheriff’s office. Motion carried. RESOLUTION #18-46 EMPLOYMENT STATUS CHANGE FOR CATHY CLOUSE WHEREAS, the Benton County Sheriff has a need for more help in the kitchen and custodial department; and WHEREAS, Clouse has been employed by Benton County as part-time since June 2017 and has been averaging over 32 hours a week, and WHEREAS, Clouse has been currently performing the duties of the above mentioned positions; and WHEREAS, the Sheriff recommended that Clouse have her employment status be changed from part-time to permanent part-time to allow her health insurance benefits, NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Benton County Board of Supervisors that Cathy Clouse be changed to a permanent part-time kitchen and custodial employee in the Sheriff’s office, effective August 28, 2018 at her same hourly rate of 14.67. Motion carried at 10:35 a.m. Dana Burmeister, Benton County Transportation Director requested that the board go into closed session to perform her evaluation. Bierschenk moved/Wiley seconded: To enter into closed session pursuant to Iowa Code 21.5(1)i. Motion carried at 10:36 a.m. Wiley moved/Bierschenk seconded: To exit closed session and enter into open session. Motion carried at 11:17 a.m. The board moved the meeting over to the Benton County Service Center to talk to the locksmith there working and a sales rep for some petition walls and furniture needs.
