The Vinton-Shellsburg Administrative Team and Directors spent several hours Monday morning discussing the current situation revolving around COVID-19. As part of our next steps we anticipate being closed through April 10th.
We have set-up a web page on our school site devoted to announcements and updates. bit.ly/VSCSD_Updates
Access:The buildings will be open for students to retrieve personal items on Tuesday evening from 5-7 and Wednesday from 8-2 and again from 5-7. This is a time students should take home personal items, their computers (if applicable) and other learning materials. We encourage students to empty their lockers which will assist in our deep cleaning efforts.
Activities: All school-sponsored activities are suspended at this time. No mandatory or voluntary practices will be held.
Events: All school events are suspended at this time. We have not made a decision about prom or graduation at this time as they are several weeks in the future.
Partnerships: Happy Time and Creative Kids will continue to operate out of Tilford and Shellsburg buildings at this time.
Facility Usage: No facility use requests will be honored from now through Sunday, April 12.
Meal Program: We are making plans to offer grab-and-go meals for all children and youth in our community similar to our summer meal program. The meals will be offered FREE to anyone ages 0-18. We are working to offer options for where the meals could be picked up.
Classes: While classes may be suspended, we hope that learning will still occur over the next few weeks. We will be working with teachers over the next few days with the intent to offer resources for families. They will not replace our face-to-face learning but our intent is to provide students practice and some continuity in their learning.
Information: We will post information on the school's website. Look for the link that will be posted soon. It will be the most accurate and up-to-date place to find information about the school. Please continue to monitor the CDC's website at https://www.cdc.gov/for information about COVID-19.
Central Office: Our central office will remain open during this time although we may have some limited hours starting on Friday. We ask that you call or email as part of our efforts to keep everyone healthy.
Thank you for your patience as we work through these challenging times.
