The Benton County Board of Supervisors met in regular session with Supervisors Primmer, Bierschenk and Seeman were present. Supervisor Primmer called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m. Unless otherwise noted, all actions were approved unanimously. The department heads were given the zoom call information for Covid 19 update.

Auditor Rippel discussed the vacancy in the Treasurer's office effective March 31, 2020 and reviewed Iowa Code Chapter 69 and the options to proceed in filling the vacancy of an elected official. Melinda Schoettmer presented her interest in the appointed position. This vacancy will be on the ballot for the upcoming elections in 2020.

Seeman moved/Bierschenk seconded: To proceed with filling the Treasurer vacancy with the intent to appoint Deputy Treasurer Melinda Schoettmer on Tuesday, April 7, 2020 at 9:15 a.m. and will prepare the official public notice. Motion carried.

Bierschenk moved/Seeman seconded: To enter into closed session pursuant to Iowa Code 21.5(1)j. Motion carried at 9:15 a.m.

Seeman moved/Bierschenk seconded: To enter back into open session at 10:25 a.m. Motion carried.

Primmer moved/Bierschenk seconded: To follow the procedures as discussed in closed session and continue to keep the courthouse closed to the public and all employees report to work as normal. Only allowing the public to enter for legally mandated purposes and essential services and will continue with future updates as we move forward in response to the COVID-19 guidelines. All voting aye. Motion carried.

Bierschenk moved/Seeman seconded: To adjourn. Motion carried.
