At Tuesday's Benton County Board of Supervisors meeting, the Supervisors approved an agreement with Benton Community to place an officer from the Sheriff's department at the school.

Sheriff Ron Tippett shared with the Supervisors that the school is requesting this be a year-round position paid for by the school, including both salary and benefits. The Sheriff's office will pay for a car, and any overtime or necessary training. Tippet said that there will be training scheduled in July and August.

The Supervisors approved the hiring.

Deputy Tyler Brandt lives in Belle Plaine and of the 3 candidates interviewed, Brandt came out as the top candidate for the job, said Tippett.

The Benton County Sheriff's Office shared the partnership with the Benton Community School District on Thursday. In a statement, the office said, "We are happy to announce Deputy Brandt has accepted the position and will start in his new role on July 1st. We are excited about this new partnership!"

Congratulations Deputy Brandt!
