This coming Saturday will be the 244th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence - the 4th of July holiday. Fifty-six men signed the Declaration of Independence because of their determined effort to live free and not be under the excessivedetrimental control of British rule. They knew before they signed the Declaration of Independence that their lives would be in danger. Five of them died from being tortured, 12 signers had their houses looted and burned, and nine more died in the Revolutionary War.
These signers and over a million more Americans have lost their lives fighting for freedom for the citizens of the country, with a majority fighting communist regimes.
In my opinion, the constitutional framers would be appalled at what is happening in America today. The nationwide vandalism, looting, robbery, murder, and the dismantling of police departments are not the solutions to discrimination and racism inflicted by a very small percentage.
On July 1st, the Des Moines Police Dept. posted a video. They arrested a few BLM protesters at the State Capitol. When they got outside, the police were assaulted, put in a chokehold, and even had their weapons taken. The actions of these anarchists are completely unacceptable.
Did you know the BLM Network Foundation was established in 2013 by trained Marxists Patrisse Cullors and Alicia Garza? Did you know the BLM network is mostly funded by Thousand Currents, which has a violent communist terrorist Susan Rosenberg as vice-chair of its board of directors? She was convicted of multiple bombings in the 1980s, but President Bill Clinton sprung her out of prison by inexplicably pardoning her. Did you know that behind the scenes, radical leftist billionaire George Soros is a major donor of the BLM movement?
These are the radicals who are recruiting people across the country to do their battles for them via vandalism and lootingand creating anarchy.
Our law enforcement officers (LEO) are vital cogs in the wheel of a civilized society. Without them keeping law and order, there would be complete anarchy. Slashing their budgets or defunding police departments locally will ultimately lead to much more crime.
LEOs and the military are a large part of the fabric that is holding this nation together in a civilized society. Without them and a continuous Christian foundation that guides us between what's right and wrong, we don't have functional country, only chaos and anarchy. Sure, there is a very small percentage of LEOs that should not be in this profession, and this is true for every profession. Bottom line is, nobody is perfect. LEOs often have to make life or death decisions in less than a second. The actions of probably less than 1% do not speak for the rest.
So, this Independence Day, I hope you are able to celebrate the good things about America! Lee Greenwood released the song "God Bless The U.S.A." in 1984, and I thought it was just about perfect. However, the song was remade by the a cappella group Home Free and members of the United States Air Force BandSinging Sergeants with Lee Greenwood. To quote President Ronald Reagan, "Freedom is never more than a generation away from extinction. We didn't' pass it to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same or one day we will spend our sunset years telling our children and our children's children what it was like in the United States where men were free."
