The Benton County Board of Supervisors met in regular session with Supervisors Primmer, Bierschenk and Seeman present. The meeting was called to order at 9:00 a.m. Members of the public were provided the zoom access capability to join in during open session and watch live at the county's YouTube channel. Unless otherwise noted, all actions were approved unanimously.

Bierschenk moved/Seeman seconded: To set land use hearing date for Jeff and Marcia Knupp on Tuesday August 11, 2020 at 9:15 a.m. for in part of the SW ¼ SE ¼ of 22-85-10. Motion carried.

Supervisor Primmer asked for clarification on previous meeting as to why Supervisor Bierschenk voted no on the land use hearing for the Jordan's. Bierschenk stated that the neighbors were in opposition to this one, and the one previously in the northern part of the county didn't have that. He felt it was setting precedence.

Seeman moved/Bierschenk seconded: To approve the minutes of July 7, 2020. Motion carried.

Ben Bonar, Weed Commissioner came to the board along with intern George Haefner to give their department update. They also presented the Integrated Roadside Vegetation Management program packet along with their weed complaint program.

Seeman moved/Bierschenk seconded: To approve the Treasurer's Semi-Annual Report ending June 30, 2020. Motion carried.

Bierschenk moved/Seeman seconded: To approve use of the courthouse lawn for the Iowa Bible Reading Marathon per Loel Fink to be at 7:00 p.m. on the courthouse lawn. Motion carried.

Seeman moved/Bierschenk seconded:To approve law enforcement contracts with City of Mt. Auburn and City of Luzerne, not to exceed 26 hours a year and total amount of $650.00 to be paid quarterly. Motion carried.

Benton County Attorney announced that this is the week they have announced in-person opening for court. This shouldn't affect much in Benton County other than potential for more people using restrooms and such. They will be required the screening along with other visitors and asked to wear masks and maintain social distancing. Clerk of Court Julie Hessenius was also stressing that cleaning will need to be done by everyone and all have to pitch in to make a difference in times like these. This lead to talk of a possible fogger to disinfect the courthouse when needed especially for large court gatherings. The Board plans to address the Covid-19 further at their August 11th meeting. Things will continue as is until after that meeting and maintaining the require appointments to enter the building.

Bierschenk moved/Seeman seconded: To approve Recorder's Quarterly Report ending June 30, 2020. Motion carried.

Seeman moved/Bierschenk seconded: To approve Auditor's Quarterly Report ending June 30, 2020. Motion carried.

Committee reports and updates were had. Supervisor Seeman reported on the new transportation building has been started, the poles and cement work.

Seeman moved//Bierschenk seconded: To adjourn. Motion carried.
