01-04-21 a regular meeting of the Shellsburg City Council was called to order by Mayor Speckner at 6:00 in the Council Chambers. Roll Call was answered by Vogt, Chapman, Thorkildson, Blattler, and Reeves. Thorkildson motioned to approve the consent agenda. Blattler second. All ayes. Deputy Rider gave the police report for the 4th quarter. Superintendent Robertson reported a bad pump at the waste water plant. Alliant may be another 2 weeks and requested a possible rebate. Advised of an available shut off for outside buildings and cost for future resolve if needed. Thorkildson motioned to purchase a new pump. Reeves second, all ayes. The investment report and October and November revenue reports were reviewed.

Dennis Shakespear requested to keep one city tree in his yard. Due to advisement from the City attorney, it is not possible to make an agreement with individuals as it would go against State Code.

Council decided not to allow chickens in city limits at this time.
Council will have future review and discussion during budget on adding a Storm Water Ordinance and updating the Sidewalk Ordinance.
FEMA reports are a work in process.
The forward movement on the Catalyst Grant for old bank was discussed.
Vacate property was moved to the next meeting.
Budget workshop dates were set up and will be posted as public meetings so public can attend if desired. Superintendent McNeal sent in the radar sign for repair and mentioned the City will need to go out for bid for the cemetery mowing contract this year.
