NOTICE The Benton County Board of Supervisors is taking applications for various county board and commission appointments for the following year.

Benton County appreciates diversity in these appointments and welcomes all applicants at least 18 years of age.

Terms and dates of appointments vary and these are unpaid positions. Not all boards are listed and not all have openings at this time, but if you are interested in serving on any board or commission you are encouraged to submit an application.

A brief description follows:

Board of Adjustment: Five-member board to review county zoning ordinance and hear requests for variances or special exceptions to the ordinance.

Zoning Commission: Five-member commission to review and enforce county zoning ordinance and make recommendations on any proposed changes to it.

Compensation Board for the Condemnation of Private Property: 28-member commission representing realtors, farmers, bankers, auctioneers and city property owners to be available to the chief judge of the judicial district to assess damages to property taken by eminent domain.

Board of Health: Five-member board to provide guidance and oversee operations of county Public Health department.

Veteran Affairs Commission: Three-member commission to provide guidance and oversee operations of Veteran Affairs department.

Benton Development Group: Oversees and guides economic development in Benton County.

Airport Zoning Commission: Reviews and enforces airport zoning ordinances and makes recommendations for any proposed changes

Airport Board of Adjustment: Reviews airport zoning ordinances and hears appeals for variances or special exceptions to the ordinance.

Pioneer Cemetery Commission: Provides management of Pioneer Cemeteries in Benton County

Benefited Fire District Board: A three-member board that provides management for the benefited fire district.

Historic Preservation Commission: Recognizes, enhances and protects sites and districts of historical and cultural significance in Benton County.

Integrated Vegetation Roadside Management: Oversees programs to promote management of roadsides in Benton County through vegetation.

Conservation Board: Five-member board to provide guidance and oversee the operations of county parks and related activities.

Civil Service Commission: Three-member board that oversees and arranges competitive testing for the qualifications for a deputy sheriff, conducts informal hearings, and other matters relating to deputy sheriffs.

Magistrate Appointing Commission: Appoints judicial magistrates.

Appointed Township Trustees for: Cedar, Fremont, Homer, Monroe, Union and Kane Townships
