Benton County educator Sara Yedlik announced her election bid for Iowa House District 84 today. House District 84 covers most of Benton and part of Linn County, including Vinton.
"I'm proud to announce my campaign to represent my lifelong community of Benton and Linn Counties," said Yedlik. "I am humbly ready to serve the constituents of House District 84. Keeping small businesses alive, supporting our local farming operations and educating the future leaders of our state is crucial for Iowa's future economic growth."
Yedlik was born and raised on her family farm in rural Vinton. She graduated from Vinton-Shellsburg High School, Luther College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education, and Drake University with a Master of Science in Educational Leadership. Yedlik is currently in her twenty-third year of teaching and is an educator in the Cedar Rapids CSD and has served on the Board of Educational Examiners for the past 8 years.
"I'm running for House District 84 to advocate for all," added Yedlik. "Our district deserves a representative who's willing to meet people where they are and put aside politics to fight for the future of our rural communities."
Yedlik is a married mother of two and lives in rural Vinton. She will run in the Democratic primary on June 7th.
