The Benton County Board of Supervisors met in regular session with Supervisors Seeman, Bierschenk and Primmer present, The meeting was called to order at 9:00 a.m. at the conference room at the Benton County Service Center. Members of the public were provided the zoom access capability to join in during open session and livestream at https://www.youtube.com/bentoncountyiowa. Unless otherwise noted, all actions were approved unanimously. Primmer moved/Bierschenk seconded: To approve the minutes of March 15, 2022. Motion carried.
Primmer moved/Bierschenk seconded: To approve payroll checks numbered 142177 through 142215, ACH Deposits 48562 through 48700, vendor checks 241874 through 241881 and claims numbered 241882 through 242018. Motion carried
Bierschenk moved/Primmer seconded: To appoint Russ Glime as Benton Township trustee. Motion carried.
Primmer moved/Bierschenk seconded: To rescind action on the public hearing dates for the first and second readings of Ordinance #77 so that we can wait until its officially approved from the state. Motion carried.
Primmer moved/Bierschenk seconded: To approve fireworks permit for Chuck Yedlik for April 22, 2022 from 4-5 p.m. and 7-11:30 p.m. May 28 and 29th between 4-5 p.m. and 7-11:30 p.m. and October 29, 2022 between 5-6 p.m. and 7-11:30 p.m. Motion carried.
Primmer moved/Bierschenk seconded: To set land use hearing date of Tuesday, April 19, 2022 at 9:15 a.m. for Richard and Marcia Morio, in part of the SW ¼ of 27-86-10. Motion carried.
Bierschenk moved/Primmer seconded: To approve Resolution #22-23, Approving Final Plat of Sunset Estates Addition to Benton County, being a replat of Lots 8-13 of Hidden Meadow Third Addition in part of the SE ¼ NE ¼ of 34-85-9. Motion carried.
Primmer moved/Bierschenk seconded: To approve and authorize chairman's signature on the Memorandum of Understanding regarding reimbursement from the MH/DS of the East Central Region for county employees effective July 1, 2022 through June 30, 2023. Motion carried.
Melinda Schoettmer, Treasurer was asked to waive the 2019 taxes on Parcel #240-90425. Larry Andreesen, County Assessor explained about the assessment error that was made in his software, and that it had been classified as exempt in error. The current owners are in the closing process to sell and that is why it was brought to the county's attention. The Assessor requested an Auditors correction for the 2020 taxes that the owner is willing to pay, but they requested to waive the 2019 taxes due to the assessment error.
Primmer moved/Bierschenk seconded: To waive the 2019 taxes due on Parcel #240-90425 due to assessment error. Motion carried.
Primmer moved/Bierschenk seconded: To acknowledge successful post-elections audits for the Special School Election for Center Point Urbana Schools on March 1, 2022 and Special City of Atkins Election on March 8, 2022 Motion carried.
Primmer moved/Bierschenk seconded: To adjourn. Motion carried.
