The Benton County Board of Supervisors met in regular session with Supervisors Seeman, Bierschenk and Primmer present. The meeting was called to order at 9:00 a.m. at the conference room at the Benton County Service Center. Members of the public were provided the zoom access capability to join in during open session and livestream at https://www.youtube.com/bentoncountyiowa. Unless otherwise noted, all actions were approved unanimously. Bierschenk moved/Primmer seconded: To approve the minutes from Tuesday, November 8, 2022 and Thursday, November 10, 2022. Motion carried.

Primmer moved/Bierschenk seconded: To acknowledge the successful Post-Election Audit that took place on Vinton 1 precinct on Thursday, November 10, 2022. Motion carried.

Bierschenk moved/Primmer seconded: To table action on the dissemination agent agreement from D.A. Davidson. Motion carried.

Primmer moved/Bierschenk seconded: To table action on the claim from Steiff Electric to get more information from maintenance. Motion carried.

Primmer moved/Bierschenk seconded: To declare the canvass of the election to be complete and the votes cast to be official. The official results are to be recorded in the office of the County Auditor. Motion carried.

The results of the General Election held on November 8, 2022, for local candidates as canvassed and approved by the Benton County Board of Supervisors are as follows:

County Supervisor (District 2)- Tracy Seeman

County Treasurer - Melinda Schoettmer

County Recorder - Lexa S. Speidel

County Attorney - Ray Lough

The following township trustees and clerk respectively were elected:

Benton - Russ Glime and Doug Sutton

Big Grove - Francis Van Deusen, and to fill vacancy Matthew Gorkow and Emily Gorkow

Bruce - Robert Zeien and Lindsay Pipho

Canton - Dustin Maynard and Michael A. Jambois

Eden - John Holst and Garth D. Gardemann

Eldorado - Jon Kaestner and Rosemary Olson

Florence - Peter Drahos and Stewart Towe

Harrison - Okee Walker Jr. and Sharon A. Bauer

Iowa - Jim Sayers and Melody Lohf

Jackson - Paul M. Herger and John Lindahl

Leroy - John Roth and to fill vacancy Barry Werning and Larry Koster

Polk - Steven Smith and to fill vacancy Trent Kuhn and Ben Seiler

Primmer moved/Bierschenk seconded: To approve Resolution #22-106, Approving Final Plat for Boyer Farms First Addition. Motion carried.

Primmer moved/Bierschenk seconded: To approve Resolution #22-107, Approving Final Plat of Ludden Second Addition to Benton County, Iowa. Motion carried.

Primmer moved/Bierschenk seconded: To approve Resolution #22-08, Approve Final Plat for Kinzenbaw Addition to Benton County, Iowa. Motion carried.

Bierschenk moved/Seeman seconded: To approve employee agreement and Resolution #22-109, Hiring Jon Gingerich as Assistant Roadside Manager with a starting salary of $49,500 effective November 28, 2022. Voting aye were Bierschenk and Seeman. Primmer abstained due to conflict of interest. Motion carried.

Engineer Parizek gave some updates on some of the construction projects currently going on.

Primmer moved/Bierschenk seconded: To approve Resolution #22-110, Hiring Chris Moessner as a mechanic in Secondary Roads with a starting wage of $24.89 effective November 21, 2022. Motion carried.

Primmer moved/Bierschenk seconded: To rescind action on tabling the Streff Electric Bill. Motion carried.

Primmer moved/Bierschenk seconded: To approve claim using ARPA Funds for Streff Electric in the amount of $4,998.00 for wiring on the new boiler installation project. Motion carried.

Primmer moved/Bierschenk seconded: To enter into closed session at 10:51 a.m. pursuant to Iowa Code 21.5(1)k. Motion carried.

Primmer moved/Bierschenk seconded: To exit closed session. Motion carried at

No action was taken.

Bierschenk moved/Primmer seconded: To Adjourn. Motion carried.
