The end of August marks the last days of summer. Looking back, we've had quite a busy summer! In May, we concluded the 90th General Assembly, recognized Memorial Day and honored those who made the ultimate sacrifice, visited the Iowa College for the Blind campus and had two great breakfasts hosted by the Central City and Coggon Fire Departments. June brought the iconic Alburnett Car Show, the Iowa Professional Fire Fighters Annual Business Convention hosted in Cedar Rapids and two great county fairs (Linn and Benton). Our Nation's Independence was celebrated in July, I attended the 2023 Community Colleges for Iowa Trustee Conference and got to see the Bloomsbury Farm Corn Maze design honoring Four Oaks' 50th anniversary. Legislators were also called back to the capital for a special session to pass what is known as the "Heartbeat Bill" (HF 732). I hope everyone had a great summer and has been able to beat the heat. To those returning to school, I want to wish you a safe and successful start to your year!

Coggon Bridge DedicationOn August 5th, I attended and spoke at the Coggon bridge dedication ceremony in memory of my good friend Captain Dave Knott. Dave was a dedicated husband, father, public servant, and community member. I miss him so very much. Thank you to everyone who made this possible.
