American Irish State Legislators Caucus

In August, I traveled to the largest meeting of US and Irish Legislators. This historic gathering with US legislators from all 50 states took place in the Chambers of Dáil Éireann (Ireland's House of Representatives). We discussed economic relations between Ireland and the US and commemorated the 25th Anniversary of the Good Friday Agreement, highlighting continued US support for peace. Senator Mark Daly (Irish Parliamentary Liaison to US State Legislators) chaired the session alongside Deputy Paul McAuliffe, convenor of the Ireland-US Parliamentary Friendship Group. 

September Events

Hawkeye Area Labor Council Annual Picnic
The Annual Labor Day Picnic in Cedar Rapids hosted by the Hawkeye Area Labor Council was held on September 4th. Myself and several other elected officials were on hand volunteering and serving food for our fellow Iowans.  

Veterinary Technology Center Opens
Kirkwood Community College celebrated the opening of their Veterinary Technology Center on September 14th. The recently constructed facility includes 18,000 square feet of instructional clinical areas, as well as technical classrooms, spaces for housing animals, lounges, and administrative offices.

HOPEwalk Cedar Rapids

It was an honor and a privilege to attend the 10th annual Cedar Rapids HOPEwalk on Saturday, September 16th. The HOPEwalk is a local community walk supporting awareness and education on suicide prevention and those affected by this national health crisis. The walk includes an opening presentation and a lap around Cherry Hill Park in Cedar Rapids.
