Following the Work Session last Thursday, the regular session of the City Council meeting was called to order.

The usual business of filing minutes, and etc was approved.

A Class C retail alcohol license for Ron-da-Voo was approved and an amendment to a special class C retail native wine license was granted for The Niche.

City invoices were approved. The council also received and filed communications and petitions or remonstrances.

Under Committee Reports, Ron Hessenius cited the work session concerning parking spaces.

In Citizen's Input, Scott Hansen approached the council concerning property that he and his wife Julie as well as Ron and Cindy Tippett purchased. It is the former Wilson gas station across from the Post Office. There are small pieces of land behind the station that the city owns but is not using that the two couples would like to purchase. 

He said that there is also a narrow strip of land next to this located behind Martin Eye Clinic which Dr. Mike Martin would also be interested in purchasing if it became available. 

There was no old business, and under new business:

A plat for Anderson Fourth Subdivision was approved.

Approval of a quote from Tomlinson Cannon for gutter replacement on City Hall was tabled until it was determined if the roof was in able to hold a new gutter system.

The council gave approval of a request by Dandeena Schade and Anita Gordon for painting a mura on the wall of City Hall. There will be more information about this at a later date. A special event application for Back Alley Evening of the Arts on September 28, 2024 was also granted for this same event. 

Benton County Historic Preservation put in an application for a Flea Market event for September 28, 2024 and it was granted.

A business improvement grant award was approved for the American Legion George G. Luckey Post 57.

An inspection report was received and filed from the Iowa DNR concerning the Wastewater Treatment Facility.
