Derek Marsh discussed the game breeders license for Jalen Schmuecker. He is just reporting that they received confirmation last week that he was able to obtain his license and was in compliance with the law. No action needed.
Myron Parizek was present to address the agenda item for discussing rumble strips in Van Horne/Hwy 30 intersection. The rumble strip is within 69" of the nearest residence. Parizek provided the history as to why the rumble strips were placed and how 2 of the 3 supervisors voted in favor of him placing the rumble strips at this intersection due to safety concerns. Since that time, the HWY 30 project has changed this from 2 lane highway into a 4 lane. Previous safety studies and the suggestions made to make this a a safer intersection was discussed. This intersection is highly traveled along with a school route for many. Rick Primmer suggested adding destination lighting, signage lighting and intersection warning signs on HWY 30 from both directions. When we find out what the state approves, then we can move forward with a different approach. According to Parizek, the only one of these ideas that hasn't been discussed with the DOT yet was the intersection warning signs. Sheriff likes the idea of the lights being put up and warning signs and we need error on the side of caution, but we also need to try and accommodate these folks with the rumble strip noise. Seeman would like to see these things get in place soon, and find out from the State what we can do and not make this wait any longer. Once other things are done then we will address removing the rumble strips. Myron Parizek agreed he will keep this moving forward.
Tracy met with a contractor last week out to Conservation to come fix a tile issue at no cost. He also hosted the ECICOG meeting at the Service Center last week, followed by the East Central Iowa Housing Trust Fund meeting. Seeman was impressed at the homes being built by the prison and putting in place north of Vinton.
Primmer reported about a letter he received from the Iowa Department of Corrections and how our jail passed with flying colors and nothing but praise in it.
Seeman moved/Bierschenk seconded: To Adjourn at 9:39 a.m. Primmer, Seeman and Bierschenk voting aye. Motion carried.
