The Benton County Board of Supervisors met in regular session with Supervisors Primmer, Bierschenk and Seeman present, Supervisor Primmer called the meeting to order at 12:30 p.m. at the Benton County Service Center. Members of the public are invited to join in during open session or watch the livestream at https://www.youtube.com/bentoncountyiowa. Benton County Commissioner of Elections, Hayley Rippel explained how the post-election audit works. Pursuant to the Code of Iowa Sec. 50.51, the Secretary of State's Office randomly selects a precinct from all 99 counties in Iowa. They had us audit two races, the President and the County Sheriff. The hand count done by the bi-partisan team, matched the machine count from the precinct report.
Seeman moved/Bierschenk seconded: To acknowledge the successful Post-Election Audit of Iowa, Leroy, Luzerne, Blairstown precinct that was held on Friday, November 8, 2024. Primmer, Seeman and Bierschenk voting aye. Motion carried.
Gina Edler, Elections Deputy, provided the abstracts by precinct, and read them off including the absentees.
Seeman moved/Bierschenk seconded: To approve the name scatterings of Gary Paulsen, Garry Paulson, Gary L. Paulsen and Gary Paulson all as one. Primmer, Seeman and Bierschenk voting aye. Motion carried.
Seeman moved/Bierschenk seconded: To approve Resolution #24-105, General Election of November 5, 2024 Canvass of Votes. Primmer, Seeman and Bierschenk voting aye. Motion carried.
RESOLUTION #24-105
WHEREAS, the GENERAL ELECTION was held as prescribed by law on November 5, 2024, and:
WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors and ex officio Board of Canvassers have canvassed the vote of said election in accordance with §43.49 and §50.24 of the Code of Iowa, now therefore;
BE IT RESOLVED that we, the undersigned members of the Board of Supervisors and ex officio Board of Canvassers of Benton County, Iowa, do hereby certify the following TURNOUT REPORT and RESULTS in the GENERAL ELECTION, held on November 5, 2024, and that no obvious clerical errors were identified during the canvass.
10,608 people voted at the polls on election day.
3,985 absentee ballots were accepted for counting.
One (2) provisional ballots were accepted for counting (included in absentee total).
A total of 14,593 people voted.
County Board of Supervisors are as follows:

County Supervisor District III - Bruce E. Volz
