The Benton County Board of Supervisors met in regular session with Supervisors Primmer, Bierschenk and Seeman present. Supervisor Primmer called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m. at the Benton County Service Center. Members of the public are invited to join in during open session or watch the livestream at https://www.youtube.com/bentoncountyiowa. Summarized Resolutions will be available in the Auditor's office and at: www.bentoncountyia.gov
Seeman moved/Bierschenk seconded: To approve the agenda. Seeman, Bierschenk and Primmer voting aye. Motion carried.
Nancy Jorgensen, Deputy Auditor, discussed the new Federal Regulations on exempt employee salaries. As of January 1, 2025, employees that make less than $58,656 annually, must either receive a raise to meet the new threshold amount or be paid overtime, even if they're classified as a Department Head. Jorgensen ran numbers and the Transportation Director would need to have their annual salary raised $696.00 to meet that threshold.
Seeman moved/Bierschenk seconded: To raise Transportation Director's salary $696.00 annually effective January 1, 2025. Seeman, Bierschenk and Primmer voting aye. Motion carried.
Bierschenk moved/Seeman seconded: To approve the minutes from November 26, 2024. Seeman, Bierschenk and Primmer voting aye. Motion carried.
Seeman moved/Bierschenk seconded: To approve vacation carry-over for Barbara Fetzer to be used by June 30, 2025. Seeman, Bierschenk and Primmer voting aye. Motion carried.
Myron Parizek, Engineer, presented quotes for a purchase of a belly dump rock trailer. Quotes were as followed:
Siouxland Trailer - $61,500
ITM- $61,040
Siouxland Trailer - $67,250
Parizek recommended ITM $61,040 quote.
Seeman moved/Bierschenk seconded: To approve quote for the purchase of belly dump rock trailer for $61,040 from ITM. Seeman, Bierschenk and Primmer voting aye. Motion carried
Seeman moved/Bierschenk seconded: To approve Resolution #24-108, Benton County Pledge supporting strategies outlined in the Safety Action Plan. Seeman, Bierschenk and Primmer voting aye. Motion carried.
Bierschenk moved/Seeman seconded: To Adjourn at 9:23 a.m. Seeman, Bierschenk and Primmer voting aye. Motion carried.
