The Benton County Board of Supervisors met in regular session with Supervisors Seeman, Tippett and Volz present. Chairman Seeman called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m. at the Benton County Service Center. Members of the public are invited to join in during open session or watch the livestream at https://www.youtube.com/bentoncountyiowa. Full Resolutions will be available in the Auditor's office and at: www.bentoncountyia.gov
Tippett moved/Volz seconded: To approve the agenda. Tippett, Seeman and Volz voting aye. Motion carried.
Tippett moved/ Volz seconded: To approve the minutes from June 27, 2025 and both sets on July 1, 2025 minutes. All members voting aye. Motion carried.
Tippett moved/ Volz seconded: To approve the correction to the June 17, 2025 minutes regarding action on the passing of Resolution #25-47, Certifying the Deputies Salaries for FY26 was left off in error and the Auditor will get those adjusted accordingly. Tippett, Seeman and Volz voting aye thereon. Motion carried.
Tippett moved/ Volz seconded: To set land use hearing date of Tuesday, August 5, 2025 at 9:15 a.m. for Jeremy and Stacy Koopman for part of the NE ¼ NW ¼ of 33-85-9. Tippett, Seeman and Volz voting aye. Motion carried.
Volz moved/Tippett seconded: To approve payroll checks numbered 143806 through 143817, ACH Deposits 61706 through 61872, claim 254299, vendor checks 254300 through 254305, claims 254306 through 254423. Tippett, Seeman and Volz voting aye. Motion carried.
Volz moved/Tippett seconded: To acknowledge the resignation from Jennifer Zahradnik from the Benton County Solid Waste Commission and Civil Service Commission effective July 1, 2025. Tippett, Seeman and Volz voting aye. Motion carried.
Tippet moved/Volz seconded: To approve the Sheriff's Quarterly Report ending June 30, 2025. Tippett, Seeman and Volz voting aye. Motion carried.
Tippett moved/Volz seconded: To approve the Treasurer's Semi-Annual Report ending June 30, 2025. Tippett, Seeman and Volz voting aye. Motion carried.
Seeman moved/Tippett seconded: To table action on approving contract between Benton County and ISG Group, Inc. until next week. Tippett, Seeman and Volz voting aye. Motion carried.
Auditor Rippel explained the need for a FY26 Budget amendment due to the MOU that was approved with Disability Access Point and retaining an employee on June 26, 2025. There wasn't spending authority put in for salary and benefits, only for accrued expenses.
Tippett moved/Volz seconded: To set Tuesday, August 5, 2025 for a public hearing for amending FY 26 Budget. Tippett, Seeman and Volz voting aye. Motion carried.
Volz moved/ Tippett seconded: To approve Resolution # 25-59, Wage and Classification Change for Donald Erger at secondary roads, his VG base wage will be $30.13 an hour effective July 14, 2025. Tippett, Seeman and Volz voting aye. Motion carried.
The Board was invited to tour the Old School Produce gardens for their open house today, and tonight they have an meeting with the EMS Advisory Council at the EOC.
