Rep. Pettengill of Mount Auburn has been designated a “Friend of Agriculture” by the Iowa Farm Bureau Political Action Committee. “I am extremely honored to receive this recognition from the Farm Bureau,” said Pettengill. “Since I was first elected, I’ve done my best to be in tune with issues facing Iowa’s farm families. I remain committed to working on behalf of our farmers in the future.” “Our organization takes these designations very seriously, and carefully considers each race,” said Rod Collins, IFBF PAC Committee Chair and a farmer from Dallas County. “We looked objectively at each race and how candidates stand on Farm Bureau policy,” Collins said. “It’s very important that our designations are guided by statewide grassroots input and how each candidate’s voting record and positions line up with Farm Bureau policy. As we move forward, it will be important for all of us to work to get the Friends of Agriculture elected,” he said. "We need to stand behind candidates who are aligned with our policy.” The grassroots effort to designated Friends of Agriculture is guided by members and began in July when county committees evaluated candidates. An unprecedented 98 County Farm Bureau Campaign 2012 Committees submitted candidate evaluations this year. The nine-member PAC committee carefully reviews these evaluations, while also considering candidates’ positions on issues of importance to members, leadership on Farm Bureau priorities and past voting records. Pettengill represents all of Benton and northern Iowa counties. See the complete list of those designated "Friends of Agriculture" HERE.
