Dear Friends and Neighbors,
Last week was a hair raising and white knuckle week. With ice, snow and wind, by the time we all got to the Capitol our hearts had been in cardio for a bit! The last time I wrote you, I was getting stranded all over the state in my car. After a trip to a mechanic down here and he recommended going to the dealer (Ha - who has time for all this?), I drove straight to the closest car dealer and bought a vehicle within a few hours. And I am so relieved! No more worrying about whether I will get where I'm going. After I've had it, it was really apparent what a load off my shoulders that was. Anyway, I'm stylin' now and driving really carefully so I don't put the thing in the ditch!
We are at the point where we're hearing from a lot of department heads on the state of their departments and if they have any legislative priorities. We have had people at the Capitol each day telling us of their priorities. We've been home in our districts listening to people. Senator Kapucian and I have had two coffees in our district and I started up my Constituent Advisory Committee (which is awesome!) and some old fights are rearing their head again in this session. This week is the deadline for individual bill drafts and we are working furiously to get those done for our people. It's been go, go, go and I love it. Thank you.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to write back or give me a call at 515-281-3221.
