The Izaak Walton League will host a FREE - STOP THE BLEED® - course for their Tuesday, November 1st meeting. All are welcome but we particularly suggest hunters and sports shooters attend this course. Doors will open at 6:00 PM, the course will run from 6:30 – 8:30 PM. HHS Launches Naloxone Program for Iowa Organizations, Businesses and Schools
To help address the issue of opioid misuse, the Iowa Department of Health of Human Services (HHS) is expanding their initiative to provide naloxone (the opioid overdose reversal medication) to Iowa organizations, businesses and schools, which may be in a position to render aid to a person at risk of experiencing an opioid overdose.Since February of 2022, HHS has offered eligible organizations and businesses free naloxone nasal spray kits.
Domestic violence fatalities decline slightly in first eight months of 2022
Women remain the overwhelming majority of victims in IowaTwelve people lost their lives as a result of domestic violence in the first eight months of 2022. Nine women and three bystanders were killed as a result of these domestic violence cases. The 12 deaths in 2022 represent a decrease in the number of domestic violence deaths reported during the same period in 2021 when 17 deaths were recorded, according to the Domestic Violence Fatality Chronicle.

AMERICANS URGED TO DONATE BLOOD TO SUPPORT HURRICANE IMPACTED AREAS
As Hurricane Ian makes landfall, the American Association of Blood Banks (AABB) Interorganizational Task Force is urging eligible blood donors in parts of the United States unaffected by the storm to make donation appointments as soon as possible and keep existing appointments.The blood supply in the hurricane zone is already suffering due to lower blood donor turnout and evacuations ahead of the storm.
