Blood Drive April 21 at Vinton-Shellburg
There will be a blood drive on Thursday, April 21 at the High School from 8:30-1:20 p.m.The blood drive will be in the high school auxiliary gym. It’s from 8:30-1:20. LifeServe Blood Center & Holmes Murphy to deliver lifesaving blood supplies
LifeServe Blood Center is offering community blood donors a way to help support Ukrainian relief efforts through blood donations.Unfortunately, individual volunteer blood donations are unable to be sent directly to the country of Ukraine. However, local blood donors have a unique opportunity to save lives locally while also extending a helping hand to send much-needed blood collection supplies to Ukraine.
Free Health and Wellness Event for Young Children
On Saturday, April 23, 2022 from 9:00 AM to noon at the Vinton Public Library, a free health and wellness event will be held for families with young children.The following services will be available at this event:· Childhood vaccinations· Car seat safety inspection and installation· Vision screening· Hearing screening· Dental screening· Lead screening· Developmental screening· Social-emotional developmental screening· Flower planting activity with a Master Gardener· Officers from the Benton County Sheriff’s Office will also be on hand to visit with families.

VU Progressive Health Tour: Hy-Vee, Betterton Chiropractic, and NuCara
Vinton Unlimited organized a "Progressive Health Tour" of several health-related businesses and facilities that serve in the health care field. Raemi Chavez, the Pharmacy Manager at Hy-Vee shared the services offered through the pharmacy. She shared that the store offers COVID vaccines, and home COVID test kits which are now available through most insurance providers.

Vinton Unlimited hosted their first-ever "Progressive" Business After-Hours. The "Progressive After-Hours Healthcare Edition" began at Virginia Gay Hospital with a meal and displays presented by the various departments. The informational booths shared upgrades in services as well as demonstrations of the functions of the hospital. Physical Therapy shared various types of treatment that they offer to patients.

Virginia Gay Hospital introduces Cardiac Monitoring System
Virginia Gay went live with a new cardiac monitoring system on Wednesday. The Emergency Room, Med-Surg and Operating Room are transitioning to the new Nihon Kohden monitoring system. The system will be integrating the data with the EPIC electronic health record. This integration will let the clinical staff spend a little less time charting and more time with our patients.
