Recently, Virginia Gay Hospital’s Atkins Family Medical Clinic (AFMC) underwent a comprehensive Rural Health Clinic (RHC) Accreditation Program by the American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities (AAAASF). The program certifies that an accredited clinic meets nationally recognized standards.
“On July 19th the Atkins Family Medical Clinic was certified as a provider based Rural Health Clinic by AAAASF, the state and federal certification body. The clinic had zero deficiencies and it was noted by the inspector that it was one of the finest rural health clinics she has inspected.” said Mike Riege, Virginia Gay Hospital CEO.
Additionally, Riege said, “thanks go to the Director of Clinic Operations, Melissa Macku, Director of General Services Michele Schoonover, Director of Environmental Services Mike Reifenstahl and of course to Stephanie Vogeler, PA-C and her staff for the fine preparatory work they did for this inspection.”
The AFMC provides traditional family medical care, and includes these types of services: illness, injury, check-ups, well-child services (e.g., immunizations and check-ups), physicals: annual, sport, and DOT, allergy shots, and women’s health services. Also located within the same building are the Therapy Clinic and full-service Pharmacy.
