For the second time in as many months Virginia Gay Hospital and Clinics (Nursing & Rehab Department) has been recognized as providing exceptional care, this time by U.S. News and World Report earning a 5 Star Nursing Home Award.

How do U.S. News and World Report determine 5 Star Nursing Home? They state, “An estimated 3.3 million Americans will live in the nation's nearly 16,000 nursing homes during 2013. That number translates to 1 in 7 people ages 65 and up, and more than 1 in 5 of those 85 and older. They and their families will want and need a way to find a source of the best possible care. For many, it won't be easy.”

“To help them, U.S. News has collected meaningful data and ratings about nearly every nursing facility in the United States, and built from them a searchable database designed to highlight the highest-rated homes likely to meet each user's needs.”

The VGH Nursing & Rehab overall rating, as a 5 Star Nursing Home, by U.S. News and World Report is earned from achieving superior scores from an assessment including health inspections, nursing staffing levels, important quality measures, and fire safety.

Mike Riege, Virginia Gay Hospital and Clinics CEO stated, “While we expect superior care for our Nursing and Rehab residents, receiving this award recognizing the dedicated work done by our staff and managers is gratifying and let’s our community know how much we care.”

Just last month Virginia Gay Hospital and Clinics Nursing and Rehab were honored with a Customer Experience Award from Pinnacle Quality Insight, a nationally recognized customer satisfaction firm.
