As Graduation season is fast approaching, excitement is in the air! Graduation parties are a time to celebrate and honor the accomplishments of local high school seniors, but sometimes beverage options at parties can mirror those of someone over the age of 21. There are a variety of safety concerns when parents choose to have alcohol at high school graduation parties, so choosing to host an alcohol free graduation party may be a wiser route.
As ASAC Prevention works in Vinton to provide education on this topic, we would like to sincerely show our appreciation to many businesses given their clear support of alcohol-free graduation parties for our graduating seniors. This year we had the opportunity to hand out signs to some downtown businesses that display their support of alcohol-free graduation parties. We were thankful that every single business we visited was not only willing to display the sign in their window and show their support, but were looking forward to our visit with them to discuss this campaign. The willingness to display such signs sends a clear message to the community that Vinton is all about safe and healthy decisions surrounding alcohol and youth.
We have a few more signs for those businesses we haven’t yet reached who are interested in supporting this campaign! Feel free to call or email Lindsey Ungs at the local ASAC office
