DE-ESCALATION SKILLS FOR THE FRONTLINE: A PRACTICAL APPROACH TRAINING OPPORTUNITY

A psychological crisis, by definition, is someone who is unbalanced because their coping skills have been overwhelmed. This could certainly lead to someone in crisis being agitated, upset, or simply experiencing different emotions they are unsure how to process at the time. De-escalation skills enable crisis responders to be more prepared to successfully intervene with these individuals and navigate safe and successful outcomes for everyone involved. Different techniques will be practiced throughout the course, and students will have opportunities to share practices they have used and succeeded with.

SUICIDE AWARENESS: AN INTRODUCTION FOR CRISIS RESPONDERS TRAINING OPPORTUNITY

As deaths by suicide continue to plague our nation, with 2022 being one of the highest years on record, this course should be as foundational as CPR and first aid. Crisis responders must be knowledgeable and ready to respond and intervene with persons who are experiencing thoughts of suicide or who may become suicidal during an intervention.Early recognition is imperative for successful and safe outcomes for the individual and the crisis responder. This course will teach how to recognize signs of suicide, the ICISFs intervention technique known as Clarify, Delay, Refer (CDR), as well as up-to-date data regarding suicides among populations specific to the course audience.
