Riverview Center is hosting the 2024 Regional Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) Conference scheduled for Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at Northeast Iowa Community College in Peosta, IA. This event is a training opportunity for providers and community partners who respond to incidents of sexual violence, including law enforcement, public safety, medical personnel (EMTs, Nurses, Doctors), social workers, and attorneys.

This year's conference is free to attend with both in-person and virtual options available. Participants will have the opportunity to earn 5-6 continuing education credits by attending. In-person attendees will also be provided with a light breakfast and lunch.

Funding for the conference was provided by Van Meter Inc, and Simmons Perrine Moyer Bergman PLC.

The conference will feature specialized sessions, including "Alcohol/Drug Facilitated Sexual Abuse" by Michael McDonald, training coordinator with the Iowa Attorney General's office, and "Trauma for First Responders," presented by Ben Davis, police chief for the city of Manchester.

"The purpose of the Annual SART Conference is to help improve the local response to survivors of sexual assault, by bringing relevant education to emergency responders who support survivors during very vulnerable situations," states Riverview Center SART Coordinator, Sarah Wennes. "This helps to strengthen the connection between survivors and SART partners and renew the commitment to all SART partners and to its mission."
