Do you know a child with an inspiring story of courage and resilience? The University of Iowa Health Care Stead Family Children's Hospital and the Iowa Hawkeyes are now accepting nominations for the 2024 Kid Captain program.

Since its launch in 2009, the Kid Captain program has highlighted the remarkable journeys of young patients, celebrating their strength and determination. Families with children who have faced life-changing medical challenges are encouraged to submit nominations before the deadline on Friday, March 7.

Eligible nominees must be 18 years old or younger and current or former pediatric patients of UI Health Care Stead Family Children's Hospital. Only parents or legal guardians may submit nominations.

Each selected Kid Captain will receive a commemorative jersey, special recognition from both the hospital and the Iowa Hawkeyes, and an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of Kinnick Stadium in August.

Children of all ages can be nominated as an honorary (away game) Kid Captain, while those chosen for home games must be at least 6 years old by November 2025 to ensure sideline safety.

For more details or to submit a nomination, visit the official UI Stead Family Children's Hospital website.
