Health and Fitness : VORC, VPRD showcase bike trails at grand opening

The Vinton Parks and Recreation Department and the Vinton Off Road Cyclists (VORC) held a grand opening of the bike trails near Riverside Park on Sunday. With a variety of trails for different levels of riding skills, the trails offerriding opportunities to cyclists of any age. The event included members of the Vinton Police Department's new bicycle patrol unit, as well as displays by bike vendors, including Scheel's.The VPRD and VORC, along with AmeriCorps teams, and a variety of local volunteers, have spent many hours over the past few months, helping tocarve the trails in the wooded area surrounding Riverside Park and the Lions softball field.
