Until recently, patients in southern Benton County undergoing therapy treatments for both lower and upper body rehabilitation needed to travel upwards of an hour to receive professional care. However, since opening the Atkins Family Medical Center and Physical & Occupational Services in late 2012, all that has changed.

The new therapy facilities offer both state-of-the art rehabilitation exercise equipment and Electronic Medical Records (EMR), which providing immediate feedback to patient physicians, in both a comfortable and convenient location.

Highly skilled professional therapy staff include, a Physical Therapist and an Occupational Therapist, which are able to offer a wide range of rehabilitation services for both upper to lower body rehabilitation.

A point of pride for the Physical & Occupational Service providers is the ability to offer consistency in service, meaning, patients typically see the same therapist each visit. Nicole Graber, PT believes that one-on-one therapy is important because trust and rapport is such an important element in the healing process.

Stacey Hodges, OT and Director of Rehabilitation Services for Virginia Gay Hospital and Clinics points out collaboration and coordination of care is essential and optimized here, due to the ease of access to Providers (i.e., Physicians and Physician Assistants), in person and via integrated EMR systems.

Patients are treated to warm, friendly and exceptional care in a comfortable, close-to-home (and ADA accessible) location.

The Physical and Occupational Services at the Atkins Family Medical Clinic (AFMC) provides traditional rehabilitation assistance, such as: “hands-on skills” or manual skills, exercise, ultrasound, electro-therapy or e-stim, aquatic therapy (at Virginia Gay Hospital), tissue mobilization, and kinesiotaping.
