Library holiday hours
The Vinton Public Library will be closed from Saturday, December 22 through Tuesday, Christmas Day, the 25th.
The Library will reopen on Wednesday, December 26th.
The week of New Years, the Library will close at 5 pm Monday, the 31st, through Tuesday, January 1st.
Benton County Community Foundation seeks grant applications
The Benton County Community Foundation (BCCF), an affiliate of the Community Foundation of Northeast Iowa, is announcing a new funding cycle for grants to be awarded in 2013. The application deadline for all 2013 grants will be midnight (CST) on Mar. 15, 2013, with grant awards to be announced in June.
Community Foundation grants can be awarded to 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations and governmental entities.
Vinton Police respond to public concerns surrounding rumors of a school threat
The Vinton Police Department and the Vinton-Shellsburg High School have received several calls today from concerned parents regarding a rumor circulating within the High School about a possible school threat.
Vinton Police were contacted by Vinton-Shellsburg High School officials at 4:30 p.m. on Monday, December 17, 2012, regarding information circulating among students about a possible threat to school safety, rumored to take place on Friday, December 21st.
