VSHS students receive academic awards for 2010-2011 year
Vinton-Shellsburg High School presented the Academic Awards for last year's successes to current students on Thursday evening.
The program included a welcome by guidance counselor Scott Tandy and speech by VS alum Dr. Maggie Mangold.
VSHS Principal Matt Kingsbury and Academic Advisor Sandy Hamilton presented the awards to the following students:

VS voters returned incumbents to office; supported Kirkwood bond issue
In Tuesday's school elections, a total of only 766 people voted in Benton County, which includes Vinton-Shellsburg, Benton Community and Belle Plaine.
All of the VS candidates were running unopposed and easily won re-election. Brenda Bartz, Tim Bird. Angela Hazen and Megan Rickels will serve a four-year term.
