About the 2013 Fair Queen Willow Huber:
Willow, the daughter of Jim and Conni Huber of Vinton, has two sisters, Rose and Ivy. She is 18 years old and she recently graduated from Benton Community High School. She is active in many school activities including band, choir, color guard, large group and individual speech, FFA, plays and show choir. Outside of school she is involved in 4-H, Girl Scouts, and dance. She has been involved in the fair ever since she was little starting with Clover Buds and the open division contests.
In the past Willow has served as the Vinton-Shellsburg FFA chapter as the chapter Secretary and also the Northeast District FFA as the Southwest Vice-President. Her passion for FFA started in the fall of 2010 when she attended the 83rd National FFA convention as a member of the National FFA Honor Choir. She has since gone to Nationals on the Iowa's National Floricultural team and once again with the choir. Last year Willow was selected to attend Girl's Nation in Washington, DC. This fall she will attend once again in Extemporaneous Speaking.
Willow has also been very active in her 4-H club and has shown rabbits at the fair for nine years and poultry for two. She also has shown photography, Food and Nutrition Projects, and participated in the Share The Fun. This has allowed Willow to see the importance and amount of time and effort that is needed to successfully run and event like the fair.
This fall Willow will attend the University of Minnesota Duluth to double major in Political Science and Environmental and Sustainability with a dance minor.
