Saturday, August 3rd will mark the 6th Annual Cedar River R.A.T.S. clean up project…

If your family has been looking for a fun, worthwhile event to do together, consider coming to the clean up! We will be meeting at the Mt. Auburn boat ramp @ 8:40 AM on Saturday, and everyone is invited for a fun workday on the water.

The 2013 route is going to take us from Mt. Auburn, past Minne Estema, down to Patten’s campground, where we will stop, stretch, and enjoy a home cooked meal full of wonderful secret recipes of all kinds prepared by Martha Long and her culinary crew. After a brief respite and discussion about what everyone’s collected thus far, we’ll return to the water and continue cleaning down towards our destination of the Vinton Bridge Boat Ramp.

The group will be met by our “land sharks” in a dump truck (provided by Schoonover Tuckpointing) at several stops along the way, so we can continuously offload the trash we have and make room for new!

Those stops will be: Minne Estema, Patten’s Campground, Barkdoll’s cabin (if needed) and Linda’s Landing (if needed). At our ending destination on the Vinton Bridge Boat Ramp,
we will have a dumpster (provided by Kurt’s Enterprises) and Bob Busler’s scrap metal crew will be on hand to recycle everything that can be.

Your R.A.T.S. committee has gone to great lengths to take care of the details, and to make it as easy for our volunteers as we can. What we really need now are the volunteers! Obviously, for a river clean up, we need people with boats/kayaks and canoes, but we also need more “land sharks”.

We need a few volunteers to shuttle cars from the start point to the end point, and we need hands to help offload the trash from the boats @ all of the stops.

If you can only help for an hour, that’s ok, we NEED YOU.

If you can only help at the beginning or the end, that’s ok, we NEED YOU. If you can’t help at all, but would still like to contribute, the committee could use donations of bottled water, hand sanitizer, paper towels, paper plates, condiments, basically, anything YOU would like to contribute,
WE will be grateful to have. Please call Tami @ 558-7476 for arrangements.

Please continue to watch your local media for fun facts and icky photos from our 2013 clean up!

We’ll see you on the water.
