Plans are coming together nicely for the 4th Annual Boom-Fest Arts & Crafts Show on the streets of Vinton! There is going to be a lot going on throughout town this Saturday and we’re looking forward to great weather. The Boom-Fest activities will be kicked off at 9am with the Kiwanis “Bring the Noise” 5k walk/run starting at the Benton County Courthouse. It will be a great time to get some exercise and support one of our local civic organizations. Same day registration starts at 8:30am. There are a good number of people registered, but more are welcome!

The Boom-Fest Arts & Crafts Show will start at 10am on the downtown streets of Vinton. We have over 50 vendors including: food, Arts & Crafts, Farmers Market, and tons of entertainment for the entire family! Make sure you bring the kids and join us for Street Magic by Keith West. Keith is a Vegas Style magician and has some great tricks up his sleeve! He will be performing some short shows throughout the day so be sure to catch him at the courthouse to see if you can figure out where the magic comes from before he performs his Main Show starting at 2:30pm. He is an amazing magician and illusionist and you won’t want to miss him!

Paul Imholte can play just about any stringed instrument imaginable and he will be playing live music throughout the day near 200 Block of 4th street. Paul’s featured instrument is the hammered dulcimer and he can work wonders with that hammer. For a taste of what you can expect, check out www.paulimholte.com. Kids will have an opportunity to get right up next to him and watch him do his own version of magic with the variety of instruments he brings along.

If you need to take a break and get out of the sun for a little while, you can check out BINGO at the US Bank Community Room being hosted by the VFW. They will have an air conditioned place to cool off and take a break before going back out for round two on the streets of Vinton. We will, of course, have a 15 foot by 15 foot bounce house that the kids can play in along with a rock climbing wall for anyone brave enough to take the challenge. Both of these activities are FREE to the public thanks to our generous sponsors and we’d love to have the kids take advantage from 11am – 3pm. Make sure you watch out for the lovable characters roaming the streets from McDonald’s! You never know who you might see and when a photo opportunity might come available!

The Sweet Corn Festival will begin about 4pm and you will have the opportunity to pick-up some FREE sweet corn near Clingman Pharmacy & Michael & Dowd (a free will donation will be accepted). The Straight Run Band will perform from about 5-7pm during the sweet corn festival, so you’ll want to grab a seat and enjoy some local treats AND local talent!

Vinton Unlimited & all those involved in the planning of this event invite you to take part in the fun throughout the day. Our generous sponsors have allowed us to provide all of these activities FREE of Charge and we couldn’t do it without them! Make sure you stop by and thank all of the Boom-Fest sponsors including:
