News : Teen injured in accident at Highway 30/21st Avenue accident, Sept. 20

A 17 year old Marengo man was injured Friday September 20, 2013 at 6:20 p.m. in a two vehicle accident at highway 30 and 21st avenue in Benton County.

The driver was north bound on 21st avenue driving a 1999 Saturn. He reportedly stopped at the stop sign at highway 30 and then attempted to pull across and went into the path of a 2002 Pontiac Grand AM headed east on highway 30 being driven by Katherine Lyn Cummings, age 18 from Cedar Rapids. Katherine and her two passengers were uninjured.

The 17 year old was flown to University Hospitals with possible head injuries.

The accident is still under investigation by the Benton County Sheriff’s Office.

Agencies responding were: Life Guard Helicopter from Cedar Rapids, Blairstown Ambulance, Belle Plaine Ambulance, Van Fire and Van Horne Firs Responders.
