News : VSHS Academic Awards Night‏ honors students for 2012-13 successes

The 2012-13 Academic Awards Night was held last night at VS-HS. An Academic Letter was awarded to all students grades 10-12 who achieved a 3.5 or above GPA for the 2012-13 academic year. The guest speaker was Dr. Scott Barron, a 2003 graduate of Vinton-Shellsburg. Dr. Barron challenged the students to make the most of their high school years by doing three things: 1) Have Fun -- take time to enjoy the social aspects of high school; 2) Be a nerd -- get good grades and think creatively; and 3) Be Nice -- reach out to others and volunteer in the school and community.

US Bank provided refreshments for a reception following the ceremony.
