News : Winnie Hawks visit Vinton area

Railroad historian Phil Borlesky gives the Winnie Hawks a tour of the Depot.

Thanks to the work of local leaders including Nancy Beckman, Vinton was able to welcome another tour group recently.

The Winnie Hawks, a club of Winnebago RV owners from throughout Iowa, made their fall tour recently, stopping at several area sites. They visited the Depot, where Phl Borlesky gave them a tour and a brief history of the local railroad service. They also toured the Iowa Braille School. More than 50 people in 24 vehicles participated.

Both the Iowa Braille School group and the Destination Vinton Committee of Vinton Unlimited have been working to bring more tour groups and visitors to the Vinton area.
