News : More than 30 sign up for first VSHS bowling team; volunteer coach still needed

The Vinton High School Bowling team is kicking off their fundraising with cool bowling t-shirts for everyone. We have bowling shirt order forms available at Tharp Design, V-S High School and Berry's Lanes. Being a recognized sport and not a school sponsored sport, the team needs to fund raise to cover all of their expenses. We are really in need of a volunteer to coach for our bowling teams. The coaching position is part-time as we only practice twice a week. The coach has to have a coaching certificate and must meet the High School coaching guidelines. If you know someone that can help us out, please have them call Jim Struve, the Athletic Director at the V-S High School. The bowling season is less than one month away, please call soon.

We have had a great interest this week in signing up for the boys/girls bowling teams. Over 30 students have signed up so far. The students are excited and some are already started practicing on their own. The Vinton-Shellsburg Bowling team is still forming, so all high school students still have the opportunity to join.

We have nine competitions scheduled, with four of them at home in our local bowling alley, Berry's Lanes. Most of the teams we will be competing against have both Varsity and Junior Varsity team for the boys and girls. Feel free to come out and support our teams at any of our bowling competitions. If you want to support the bowling team, donations can be dropped off at Berry's Lanes or the Central Business Office for the Vinton-Shellsburg School District.
