The students in Courtney Templeton's second grade class at Shellsburg Elementary came up with an inquiry question: "Who first started our community in Shellsburg and how has it changed?"

Then, they sought answers.

"They interviewed parents, grandparents, and members of the community," said Templeton. "They brought their information, photos, and books to the class and they created a mural of the changes."

When the students were finished, Templeton videotaped some of the process and created an iMovie to show how to use the app.

"Right now, we are teaching them to make their own iMovies to share information," says the teacher. "I am very proud of my second graders."

KR December 16, 2013, 2:10 pm I had the privilege of speaking to them as a lifelong resident & chair lady of the 150 year history book. I was surprised at their eagerness to learn, their knowledge & questions asked. I also spoke to Mrs. Matheny\'s 2nd grade. These teachers are awesome. I think I enjoyed it as much as the students if not more.
