For Autumn Macomber, her visit to Iowa from Texas this month meant just the second time ever for her to see snow, and the first time for her to try to ride on it.

Autumn and her father, Rod, joined the McNeill family at the sledding hill, just north of Riverside Park on Friday afternoon.

The Moubry family -- Luke and Sara, along with their children, Natalie, Abby and Kyle, and Luke's sister Mora -- were there, too. 

These were just a few of the sledders who took advantage of the sunshine and mid-30s temperature to enjoy some Christmas vacation sledding. 

The Vinton Parks and Recreation Department keeps the hill mowed throughout the summer so the two hills (one large and one small) can be clear when the snow falls.
