Late last year, Mark Erickson of Kettlebell Advantage and Julie Lessig and Alexa Schirm of Total Balance invited area residents to participate in the Burpee Challenge.
A total of 121 people participated, performing a total of 5,050 Burpees each. The donations from these individuals will help the Palace Theatre pay for renovations to the box office and updating of its computerized seating system.
The participants performed these exercises in a variety of manners; some even chose to do them outside, on the ice.
"The Palace was thrilled to receive such a generous donation of $1,710," said Palace Manager Marcy Horst. "The cost of our box office renovation is estimated at $1,400. This community fitness initiative donation covers that cost, with additional funds to add to our computer/iPad updates in the office.
Horst also praised the initiative of " two similar businesses working together to produce amazing results."
"We are fortunate to have awesome Palace and community supporters like Total Balance and Kettlebell Advantage in Vinton," said Horst.
