One of the first-time participants in this year's Vinton Unlimited Mini-Masters event is the Benton County Volunteer Program office at 303 First Avenue in Vinton (in the Sherman Building across from the courthouse).
The course is simple: Putting from the door to a dustpan in the corner, with obstacles representing the tools used by volunteers in helping others.
"The BCVP has been doing a lot of good things, without receiving much notice in the media," said Dean. "We hope to let people know how we can help, and what they can do to help others."
In addition to the monthly food discount through Share, the BCVP also helps arrange transportation to medical appointments to those over 60 who do not have access to other services. There are BCVP offices in Vinton and Belle Plaine.
See more about the BCVP at its website or on its Facebook page.
