On June 14, the family and friends of the late Burns Mossman, the son of Mark and Kathy Mossman of Vinton, will gather at Celebration Park for the dedication of the park as well as the official recognition of the Burns Mossman Gazebo.

Burns, who would have celebrated his 31st birthday on Monday, died five years ago today in a motorcycle accident.

His aunt and uncle, Jackie and Tom Donnelly of rural Dysart, visited Celebration Park on Saturday to mark the anniversary and also to honor Burns’ birthday.

“St. Patrick’s Day was his favorite holiday, as well as his birthday,” said Jackie, the sister-in-law of Kathy Mossman.

The couple left five green balloons and five white balloons at Celebration Park, along with a clover decoration, in memory of Burns.

The Vinton Parks and Recreation Department will announce the date of the park dedication in the near future.
