The members of the newly-formed Vinton Fine Arts Guild hope to promote the arts and grow the area's art community. They also want to use their talents to help others.

Several members of the group have donated paintings, stained glass and other art work to a fund-raising campaign for the King family. Young Amillianna King has been fighting leukemia for two years -- roughly half of her young life.. The Guild is helping the family with its medical expenses. All proceeds from this silent auction will go towards the King family.

Art pieces are on display, along with bid sheets, at U.S. Bank, Farmers Bank and Cedar Valley Bank in Vinton. The deadline for bidding is next Friday, May 16.

"The bids are beginning to come in," says Paul Roster, one of the artists who offered paintings for this fund-raiser for the King family. "We are very excited to see that. We have great hopes of raising a substantial amount for Amillianna."
